60s Vietnam War Vintage Asian Tailor-Made M51 Style Field Jacket - Large

Circa 1960s

An interesting tailor-made field jacket, based on the US M51. It is unclear for exactly what purpose this jacket was made, but I speculate that it was custom-made to order by a US serviceman serving in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. 

The craftsmanship is typical of the period and region, and it has been made with genuine US Military fabrics and buttons. The lining is made with USGI 100% cotton ripstop poplin (same as the Tropical Combat Uniform (TCU)), and the shell is made with a USGI NyCo blend sateen (same as the M65). The buttons used on the cuffs and epaulettes are also USGI, the same type as used on the TCU. The thread used to construct the jacket is a 100% cotton, vegetable-dyed thread with a long stitch length, also typical of the period and region. Under the collar, there is evidence of a crudely applied label, likely for a local tailor shop. 

Very good condition with signs of real wear - All zips, buttons, fittings and fixtures are present. There is some light sporadic discolouration and staining as seen.
